I have lived at Magnolia House since 2009 and I love it here! We are a congenial group and the atmosphere is positive and uplifting. The care that I receive at Magnolia House is excellent. I have a very good relationship with the staff members who help me in any way I need.”
Dad and I selected Magnolia in August 2019. He agreed to go for a couple of weeks.
He never asked about coming back when the two weeks were up. He has been happy there, and seems to have made many friends. The facility is on the smaller side as far as residents with about 34 or so. It reminds me of a family each time I visit. Many of the residents really enjoy the courtyard that is enclosed in the community, so no danger of any of them wandering off.
The staff is always an important part of keeping all running smoothly, and they have a very good staff. The director, Amanda, is so good at juggling a 100 things at one time. She has been wonderful even though this year 2020 has been anything but easy. The resident care head, Ashley, is fairly new, but she seems to have gotten up to speed quickly, and is doing a great job. I love the maintenance guy, Tim, he is so helpful to all the residents, and he was so helpful to me when I moved Dad in and for anything I have needed since. Housekeeping, Kathleen, keeps the facility very clean, I marvel at how clean Dad’s room is most every time I have visited. His clothes are always clean as well. So laundry is done quite often. They have a new fun activity person, Adrianna, and she has been working to find things the residents are interested in which so far seems to be working very well. Then there are staff members not necessarily known to me by name, but Dad has never said anything negative to me, in fact he tells me they are all quite helpful, the food is good and plentiful, so I do not have to worry while he is there.
The rooms are studios with a refrigerator and a microwave, plenty of room for any furniture your loved one might need, and the bathroom is a very good size. The shower alone is huge with plenty of room for a shower chair or a walker or another person to help which sometimes I suspect is necessary.
I have spoken with many friends or other people that have loved ones in an assisted facility, and I always end up thinking Magnolia House is pretty special. It is also very well decorated for every holiday which is so uplifting, I know, to anyone walking in to visit and especially to the residents. I absolutely think anyone should take a tour if they are interested or in need of an assisted living facility.
My family and I are so very grateful for Amanda and her staff at the Magnolia House, in Quincy, FL. The transition for our mother was seemless from an LTC to the ALF. Amanda met with me and instantly I was comforted in both the process and the assurance of knowing my mom would be taken care of, just as well as family could do, even better! Now, even with the challenges of COVID, I remain confident in our decision for this to be mom’s home and second family. Thank you to all of the MH staff for everything you do!
In August 2019 I needed to find an ALF for my 97 yr old mom after she suffered a fractured hip and was ready to be released from rehab. I knew of Magnolia House and my mom had visited a year or so before to take a look at the facility in case she was interested in being admitted in the future. We looked at 2 others in Tallahassee and one she even did respite at during Hurricane Michael. Magnolia house is relatively small which is a positive. It’s not so large that the staff can not maintain the facility properly. My mom has overall received great care at this facility. She was well cared for during the Pandemic when no visitors were allowed and administrative staff kept in touch with the families with updates. Her health has been maintained and although she is not walking now she is still able to participate in her ADLs and in activities, especially Bingo. She eats in the dining room three times a day and enjoys sitting in the nice courtyard working her word search puzzles in the afternoons. Amanda and Ashley make a good team in managing the staff, the facility, the visitors, etc. I am very pleased with the care that my mom has received there. Although she has been a resident of Jackson County most of her life, living in Quincy has been a good experience, making it easy for my brother, uncle, niece and friends to visit her. The staff are friendly, personable and respond to any request for assistance.
I would recommend Magnolia House to anyone looking for a smaller, clean facility that provides good care. You can check out the activities they experience on Facebook.
My mother has been a resident at Magnolia House for almost two years. The management team and staff have been extremely supportive during this very difficult time that we are all dealing with Covid19. My mom is 94 years old and needs extra help at times and I know she will get the assistance and care she needs. They keep me informed if she had any problems and have worked with our family to ensure that we can spend time with my mother based on Florida’s rules on Covid visitation. We appreciate this so much because we know there many Assisted Living Facilities that do not want to go to the extra effort to make sure that families can visit their loved ones. Thank You Amanda, Ashley and the rest of the staff for really caring for and about my mom! God Bless!
